Texas is a leader in wrongful convictions. And Barry Scheck has said, “For years, Houston has been ground zero in the national epidemic of faulty forensic science.” Scheck helped pioneer the use of DNA in the courtroom. He co-founded the Innocence Project, New York City, which is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerate the wrongly convicted and reform the criminal justice system. Scheck is also a partner in the law firm Neufeld, Scheck & Brustin, which is frequently retained by victims of police brutality. He has served as president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Scheck earned an undergraduate degree from Yale University and a law degree from UC Berkeley. He is the author of Actual Innocence: When Justice Goes Wrong and How To Make It Right (2003). Scheck will sign books and greet fans in the grand foyer at the end of the evening.

Program starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Wortham Center, Cullen Theater, 501 Texas Avenue. Parking is available underground at the Wortham, entrances on Texas Avenue or Prairie Street.

Private patron reception with the speaker is at 6:15 p.m. in the green room for those purchasing $79 tickets and for Forum donors of $1,000 or more within the past 12 months.

The speaker leaves the green room reception at 6:45. As a courtesy to everyone in the receiving line, there is no book signing, autographing, or photography.

The speaker will sign books and welcome photographs in the grand foyer at the end of the evening. Books will be on sale throughout the evening by Blue Willow Bookshop.

Early light supper is available when doors open at Prairie Street lobby bar. Includes sandwiches, fruit, cheese plates, and desserts.

Ticket prices are $19, $29, $39, $49, and $59. Besides regular tickets, a limited number of patron seats are available at $79 and include private patron reception with the speaker at 6:15 and center-front seating.

Discounts of 10% are available off all regular price levels except $79 patron level for students; educators including teachers and administrators at all levels; seniors 65 and older; and groups of 10 or more; valid ID required at the door.

Box office services are available at the door on event night. Tickets will be available at the door if the event is not sold out. In case of a sellout, there is no waiting list. Prior to event night, there are no tickets sold at the Wortham box office or any other physical box office. Tickets are sold only through this website, our email blasts, and by phone at 832-251-0706 any day 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
